B.Sc. Radiography & Imaging Technology (RIT)

(Undergraduate Program – Sri Shanmugha Institute of Allied Health Science)

About The Department

The Department of Radiography & Imaging Technology at SIMSAR & AHS is one of the institution’s most advanced and dynamic academic divisions. It is dedicated to developing highly skilled imaging technologists capable of operating sophisticated diagnostic equipment and supporting medical practitioners in accurate disease detection.

The department offers a robust blend of theoretical learning, simulation-based laboratory training, and extensive clinical posting. Students are trained in multiple imaging modalities ranging from basic X-Ray imaging to advanced CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Interventional Radiology.

With experienced radiologists, imaging technologists, and clinical faculty guiding the program, the department ensures students build strong diagnostic, technical, and analytical competencies.

Department Strengths

  • Training under experienced radiologists & senior imaging technologists
  • Exposure to multi-modality imaging (X-Ray, CT, MRI, USG)
  • Real-time scanning practice in affiliated hospitals
  • Strong focus on radiation safety & patient care
  • Hands-on operation of digital radiography systems
  • Practical training for emergency imaging & trauma cases

About The Course

The B.Sc. Radiography & Imaging Technology program trains students to perform, process, and interpret high-quality diagnostic images essential for medical diagnosis and treatment planning. The course builds a strong foundation in imaging physics, anatomy, equipment operation, radiological procedures, and radiation protection.

Students learn how to handle patients safely, position them for accurate imaging, operate high-end diagnostic machines, and support radiologists in test interpretation.
